In the context of OIE Laboratory Twinning Project which had begun in 2008 and planned to be completed in 2011 between Pendik Veterinary Control and Research Institute (PVKAE), Brucella Vaccines Laboratory and Brucellosis National Reference Laboratory and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA), Weybridge, United Kingdom, two experts visited our Institute. The main objectives of this project are to establish cooperation in reserach fields, enhance diagnostic capability of PVCRI and its staff about newly introduced techniques. The experts collected some blood samples from infected and uninfected cattle herds and taken samples were stimulated with different Brucella antigens. After stimulations, the levels of gamma interferon were measured in ordr to evaluate the cellular immunity after infection. One of the main target of this study is to choose a specific and better stimulating antigen/s. At the end of the study, a multiplex diagnostic kit that measures humoral and cellular imunity at the same time with the technique called “Meso ScaleDiscovery electrochemiluminescence (MSD ECL)” is being planned to be developed.
